Cherokee Civic Theatre announces Open Auditions for the hilarious classic comedy, "Arsenic & Old Lace" on Sunday, August 24th @ 230 pm and Monday August 25th at 6:30pm.
Written by Joseph Kessellring, it's spooky fun when Mortimer comes home to announce his marriage to Elaine, only to find out that his elderly aunts are quietly poisoning people they feel are too alone & lonely. His brother, Teddy, is oblivious to the crime because he's too busy thinking he's President Teddy Roosevelt. As for his other brother, Jonathan, well he's away serving time for crimes of his own. Only Jonathan escapes and returns with plans to make the old Victorian homestead the new center of his criminal empire. Can Mortimer foil Jonathan, convince his aunts to find other charitable work, get Teddy to stop blowing his bugle - and make it to the church on time to marry Elaine?
Needed: Lead, featured & cameo male roles in all age ranges from 18 -65 as well as roles for 1 female aged 18+ and 2 females aged 50+.
Open Auditions: are open to all regardless of experience level. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Director suggests watching the excellent 1941 movie version starring Cary Grant to get a feel for the face-paced fun.
